The wait for a true follow-up to the OnePlus Open is starting to feel never-ending. Even though the first OnePlus Open launched globally in late 2023 and quickly became one of the company’s most talked-about devices, a new leak suggests the next chapter may not be coming anytime soon—if it arrives at all.
A fresh report from trusted leaker Yogesh Brar claims OnePlus has now shelved plans for two highly anticipated products. The first is the OnePlus Open 2, a device many fans have been expecting as the natural successor to the original foldable. The second is the OnePlus 15s, which was widely tipped to follow last year’s OnePlus 13s in certain markets.
OnePlus had already confirmed earlier that it wasn’t planning to release the OnePlus Open 2 in 2025. But this latest leak suggests the situation may extend into 2026 as well, with the Open 2 reportedly canceled altogether. That’s a big deal for anyone hoping OnePlus would continue competing in the premium foldable phone space with a new generation model.
Part of the reason expectations remained high is the close relationship between OnePlus and Oppo. In recent weeks, leaks have pointed to possible upgrades coming to Oppo’s next foldable, the Find N6. Since OnePlus has often adapted Oppo hardware for wider international release, many assumed a future OnePlus foldable could essentially mirror the Find N6. However, the new claim indicates that may no longer be the plan.
While no official explanation has been given, one likely factor is that Oppo may be preparing a broader launch for the Find N6 itself. A global version of the Find N5 was released last year, and if the Find N6 gets similar worldwide availability, a rebranded OnePlus Open 2 could become unnecessary. In other words, OnePlus might be stepping back because Oppo is already positioned to cover the global foldable market directly.
The foldable isn’t the only possible cancellation, either. The same leak suggests the OnePlus 15s has a “90% chance” of being shelved. For context, the OnePlus 13s launched in India as a lightly modified version of the OnePlus 13T from China. Reports indicate a OnePlus 15T could arrive in China within months, but the latest rumor suggests some regions—especially India—may not get an equivalent “s” model this time around.
For OnePlus fans, this could point to a shift in strategy: fewer regional variants, less overlap with Oppo’s product line, and a more selective approach to which devices get global releases. Of course, plans can change, and leaks don’t always reflect final decisions—but for now, the outlook for the OnePlus Open 2 and OnePlus 15s appears increasingly uncertain.
