OnePlus could be gearing up for a huge battery leap with its next flagship, and early leaks are already turning heads. After delivering a major endurance boost with the OnePlus 15, the company may be preparing to push battery life even further with the OnePlus 16.
The OnePlus 15 set a new bar for the brand thanks to its 7,300mAh silicon-carbon dual-cell battery. It also brought serious charging speed, offering 120W wired fast charging along with 50W wireless charging. In idle battery testing without WiFi, the OnePlus 15 reportedly lasted more than 66 hours on a single charge. That’s a dramatic jump compared to the OnePlus 13, which lasted under 38 hours in the same test conditions. For users, that kind of improvement translates to fewer top-ups, more screen time, and better reliability for travel days and heavy use.
Now, a fresh rumor suggests the OnePlus 16 may arrive with an even larger “next-gen Glacier Battery” rated at around 9,000mAh. If accurate, that would be a substantial upgrade over the already-capable OnePlus 15 and could place OnePlus among the leaders in flagship battery capacity. While some performance-focused phones have pushed capacities even higher, a 9,000mAh battery in a mainstream premium flagship would still be a standout move—especially if OnePlus maintains fast charging and keeps size and weight reasonable.
Battery life may not be the only major jump. The OnePlus 16 is also rumored to get a 200MP camera, though it’s not yet clear whether that sensor would be used as the main camera or as part of a telephoto setup. Another leak hints that the camera system could resemble the approach expected in an upcoming Oppo foldable, which could mean a strong emphasis on high-end imaging hardware and improved zoom performance.
On the display side, the OnePlus 16 is rumored to feature a refresh rate of at least 200Hz. If that happens, it could appeal to mobile gamers and anyone who values ultra-smooth scrolling and responsive animations, though real-world benefits will depend on how apps and games take advantage of the higher refresh ceiling.
As for timing, the OnePlus 16 is expected to launch in Q4 2026, following a similar window as its predecessor. Since all of this information comes from leaks, it’s best viewed as early speculation rather than confirmed details. Still, the combination of a potentially massive 9,000mAh battery, a high-resolution 200MP camera, and an ultra-fast refresh rate display paints a picture of a flagship that could focus heavily on endurance, speed, and next-level hardware.
