Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Owners Warned About One UI 9 Setup Bug After Factory Reset
Samsung’s One UI 9 update for the Galaxy S26 Ultra has started reaching users, but early reports suggest that the software may come with a frustrating issue. Some Galaxy S26 Ultra owners say their phones can become difficult or even impossible to set up after installing One UI 9 and then performing a factory reset.
The problem appears to happen during the initial setup process. After the reset, the Galaxy S26 Ultra may fail to connect to Samsung’s servers, preventing users from completing setup and accessing the device normally. Reports from users on Samsung’s official community forum indicate that the issue is serious enough to leave the phone temporarily unusable.
A Samsung representative has acknowledged the problem in the forum and shared a few possible workarounds for affected users.
According to the suggested steps, users should first try switching from a mobile data connection to a Wi-Fi network during setup. After that, they may need to manually sign out of their Samsung account and attempt the setup process again.
If the phone still cannot complete setup, Samsung recommends using another device to visit the Samsung Account page, sign in, and accept the latest terms of use. Once the terms are accepted, users can try setting up the Galaxy S26 Ultra again.
At the moment, these are only temporary fixes. If none of the suggested methods work, affected users are advised to contact Samsung support for further assistance.
Samsung has not yet confirmed when a permanent fix will arrive. It is also unclear whether the issue will be resolved through a new firmware update or a server-side change. Until Samsung releases more information, Galaxy S26 Ultra owners running One UI 9 should avoid performing a factory reset unless absolutely necessary.
For now, the safest option is to keep the device as it is and wait for an official fix. Anyone planning to reset their Galaxy S26 Ultra after updating to One UI 9 should be aware of the risk, as the setup bug could prevent the phone from being used normally.
