Nvidia’s RTX 5080 Vanishes From Its Online Store Amid Discontinuation Rumors

Nvidia RTX 5080 Vanishes From Official Store as Prices Surge Toward $2,000

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5080 has suddenly disappeared from the company’s online store, adding more fuel to growing speculation about the future of the high-end graphics card. The move comes after similar confusion surrounding the RTX 5090, which also vanished from Nvidia’s storefront earlier.

The RTX 5080 is no longer listed on Nvidia’s store and does not appear in the site’s graphics card filtering options. That has caught the attention of PC gamers, hardware enthusiasts, and system builders who have been watching GPU availability closely. However, Nvidia has not officially confirmed that the RTX 5080 has been discontinued.

Interestingly, other models such as the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 are still shown on the store even when listed as out of stock. That difference has made the RTX 5080’s disappearance more noticeable and has led many to believe Nvidia may be preparing a change in its high-end GPU lineup.

Rumors are now circulating that Nvidia could be reducing or ending production of the standard GeForce RTX 5080. Some reports also suggest the company may be working on a refreshed RTX 5080 model with 24 GB of memory, which would be a major upgrade over the current 16 GB version. If true, this new variant could potentially sit between the original RTX 5080 and the flagship RTX 5090, or even replace part of the current lineup.

For now, Nvidia has not announced any new RTX 5080 model, nor has it explained why the card is no longer appearing in its store.

While the situation remains unclear, one thing is certain: RTX 5080 prices are climbing fast. The graphics card launched with a suggested price of $999, but recent listings at several major US retailers show prices approaching $2,000. Some of the lowest available offers have been seen around $1,979.99, putting the RTX 5080 extremely close to the RTX 5090’s original launch price of $1,999.

That is a massive jump for a GPU that was originally positioned as a step below Nvidia’s top-tier flagship. For gamers hoping to build or upgrade a high-performance PC, the RTX 5080 has become far more expensive than expected.

The sharp price increase appears to be driven by a mix of limited supply, strong demand, and reported memory shortages. As retailer inventory shrinks, remaining units are becoming harder to find at reasonable prices. If stock continues to dry up, prices could remain inflated or rise even further.

The uncertainty has left buyers in a difficult position. Those who need a high-end graphics card now may have to pay a steep premium, while others may choose to wait and see whether Nvidia introduces a new RTX 5080 version with more memory.

Until Nvidia provides an official update, the disappearance of the RTX 5080 from its store will continue to raise questions. Whether this is a temporary listing change, a sign of supply problems, or the beginning of a product refresh, the current market suggests that the RTX 5080 is becoming one of the hardest high-end GPUs to buy at its original price.
