NVIDIA has reportedly paused the supply of its popular GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 GPUs to AIB partners, but gamers shouldn’t hit the panic button just yet.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 are hot favorites among gamers thanks to their attractive price points and solid performance. These GPUs have been in good supply across global markets, ensuring gamers can easily get their hands on one. However, according to sources from Chinese Board Channels, NVIDIA is planning to temporarily halt the supply of these GPUs. The RTX 4060 uses the AD107 core, while the RTX 4060 Ti features the AD106 core, and the halt is expected to last for around two weeks.
This move is reportedly part of an inventory correction process rather than a sign of any major disruption or discontinuation, unlike what happened with the RTX 4090 series. The GPUs have standard GDDR6 memory modules, so they won’t be affected by the G6X memory shortages that impacted the RTX 4070 Non-SUPER GPU.
The pause in supply is seen as an adjustment in response to the current inventory status with AIC brands, and it’s anticipated that supply for certain RTX 40 models might be further reduced or even temporarily suspended. However, the specific reasons for this interruption remain unclear.
For gamers, there’s no immediate cause for concern. Retailers and distributors around the globe have sufficient stock of both the RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti. Even with a temporary two-week halt, the impact on availability and prices is expected to be minimal. So, there’s no need to worry about a sudden spike in prices or an unexpected shortage.
In terms of popularity, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 currently holds the second position in the Steam hardware survey, with its laptop counterpart in third and the RTX 4060 Ti in fourth spot. While the RTX 3060 still leads, the RTX 4060 is quickly gaining traction and is expected to surpass its predecessor soon.
So, gamers can rest easy knowing that their preferred GPU will remain accessible and affordable, even with this brief pause in supply.
