NVIDIA is set to make waves with its GeForce RTX 5090D, the exclusive variant headed to China that is stirring up excitement among tech enthusiasts. With the same specifications as its global counterpart, the RTX 5090, this launch is enticing due to its competitive pricing strategy.
The RTX 5090D won’t deviate from the original’s high-powered specs. Featuring the same formidable GB202 GPU die, it includes an impressive 21,760 CUDA Cores, and is equipped with 32 GB of GDDR7 memory clocked at a blistering 28 Gbps. This remarkable memory speed ensures a stunning total bandwidth of 1792 GB/s, setting new standards for graphical performance. However, an intriguing twist lies in its potentially restricted performance, possibly due to software-side tweaks.
While China’s GPU aficionados won’t enjoy the Founders Edition, they can choose from a plethora of custom variants brought forward by companies such as GALAX and Colorful. These manufacturers are gearing up to introduce customized versions, including creative designs like GALAX’s 1-Click OC model with a robust cooling system and Colorful’s imaginative liquid and air-cooled editions in their Neptune and Vulcan series, respectively.
An interesting historical note, the predecessor RTX 4090D was tailored specifically for China’s regulatory environment, featuring altered CUDA and Tensor cores with a lower total graphics power (TGP). Although it lacked the potential for overclocking, this newest iteration doesn’t share these compromises, and ambitious users might explore BIOS mods to push the boundaries further.
The financial aspect of this rollout is equally captivating. Priced at the same MSRP as the RTX 5090, which is set at $1999 in the US, the RTX 5090D will cost around 14,999 RMB in China, taxes included. However, prices might slightly rise given the custom nature of these models, but they remain appealing to the Chinese market.
This strategic expansion into China’s tech market solidifies NVIDIA’s commitment to offering high-performance GPUs, adapted where necessary to meet regional specifications without compromising on power or versatility. With the RTX 5090D, Chinese consumers are set to experience cutting-edge graphics power, promising a thrilling prospect for gamers and professionals alike.
