Ghost of Yotei

“Not Satisfied? Simply Skip It!”

Former Sony head Shawn Layden recently took to Twitter to address the backlash against the female protagonist and main character model in the upcoming game, Ghost of Yotei. Announced as a sequel to the widely acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, the game has faced criticism for featuring a female lead and involving Erika Ishii, a genderfluid actor with a strong social media presence.

Layden responded to the harsh critics by emphasizing the essence of gaming as a medium of entertainment and creative storytelling. He mentioned that the team behind Ghost of Yotei believes in their vision for the game and have poured their passion into bringing this story to life. He also pointed out that gamers who are unhappy with the direction of the game have the option to simply not purchase it, and better yet, can even make their own games that align with their preferences.

In his tweet, Layden remarked:
“It’s a game. An entertainment. A story a team of creators believes in. They want to make this.
It’s a game. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. In fact, why not make the game you want yourself?”

This straightforward and empowering message encourages critics to channel their dissatisfaction into creating something of their own rather than tearing down the hard work of others.

Fans eagerly await the release of Ghost of Yotei, which is set to launch on PlayStation 5 in 2025.
