The captivating world of Scars of Mars has just gotten more thrilling with the latest update from the Japanese developer, Acquire. This new update introduces an array of exciting features designed to enhance the gaming experience and offer fresh challenges to players.
One of the standout additions is the Challenge Mode, which becomes available once players complete the main game. In this mode, enemies are tougher and Safe Rooms are notably absent, raising the stakes significantly. Players can track their best clear times for each level, adding a competitive edge to the gameplay. Successfully completing these challenging levels rewards players with enhanced equipment blueprints, known as “+ Equipment Blueprints,” offering a greater incentive to push through each stage.
Beyond the adrenaline-pumping Challenge Mode, several feature improvements have been made. Blueprints can now be converted into upgrade points instantly, streamlining the process and allowing players to focus more on strategy. After finishing the game, an Edit option is unlocked that lets players display Class icons and other elements on Humanoid Masks, with new Masks becoming available upon completing different difficulty levels.
Further enhancements include an increase in Point Capacity, which raises the limits for Research and Upgrade Points at the base. A handy “Remaining Item Notification” option has been added to the settings menu, ensuring players are aware of items left during deployment. Additionally, the user interface has been refined for better equipment level visibility and item acquisition tracking.
Completionists will be pleased to know that Steam Achievements have been updated to ensure clearing EXTREME difficulty also unlocks achievements for NORMAL difficulty, making it easier to collect all accolades.
Finally, various bug fixes have been implemented, including addressing issues with unskippable animations and improving overall game stability.
