MSI Announces Surprise Release of GeForce RTX 5050 Ahead of NVIDIA’s Schedule

There’s an intriguing development around the launch of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5050. NVIDIA initially announced the GPU would hit retail in “late July,” but it seems plans are shifting unexpectedly.

MSI has listed the RTX 5050 8G Shadow 2X OC on Amazon, suggesting a release much sooner—possibly tomorrow. This move, visible on a major North American retailer, contradicts NVIDIA’s original timeline and raises questions about why this change is happening.

While NVIDIA’s official site still cites a launch in the “second-half of July,” an Amazon product page points to a release on July 1, 2025. This premature date leaves enthusiasts curious, especially since other board partners like GIGABYTE, ASUS, and ZOTAC might not have anticipated such a swift shift.

The MSI variant is priced at $279, $30 more than the standard model. It boasts a factory-overclocked design with a boost clock reaching 2617 MHz in Extreme Performance mode, slightly higher than the reference design. This could offer a significant edge in performance.

Featuring 8 GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus and equipped with three DP 2.1a ports and an HDMI 2.1b port, it’s a dual-slot card with a single 8-pin power connector. MSI also plans to release more premium variants, potentially pushing prices to $300, aligning it with the GeForce RTX 5060.

If the Amazon listing is accurate, we might see the RTX 5050 on shelves and in reviews imminently, offering an earlier glimpse into what this GPU can deliver.
