Motorola Edge 70 Pro Nears Launch: 6,500mAh Powerhouse with Triple 50MP Cameras

Motorola is preparing to launch the Edge 70 Pro, and early details suggest it’s aiming to be one of the most compelling mid-range smartphones for anyone who wants flagship-style performance, a high-refresh AMOLED screen, and a strong camera setup without jumping into premium pricing.

At the heart of the Motorola Edge 70 Pro is the MediaTek Dimensity 8500, a new 4nm ARM-based processor designed to balance speed and efficiency. It features eight ARM Cortex-A725 performance cores, with one core boosting up to 3.4GHz, three more hitting 3.2GHz, and the remaining four running at 2.2GHz for lighter tasks. To keep sustained performance steady during gaming, multitasking, and long sessions, Motorola is pairing the chipset with vapor chamber cooling. The phone is also expected to offer up to 12GB of RAM, which should help apps stay responsive and reduce reloads when switching between tasks.

The display looks like a major selling point. Motorola is using a large 6.8-inch AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and more fluid animation. It also reaches an extremely high peak HDR brightness of 5,200 nits, which should translate to better visibility in bright outdoor conditions and more impactful highlights when watching HDR content.

Camera hardware is equally ambitious for this segment. On the front, there’s a 50-megapixel selfie camera geared toward sharper self-portraits and high-resolution video calls. On the rear, Motorola is reportedly including a 50MP main camera built around a Sony LYT-710 sensor, along with a 50MP ultra-wide camera for landscape shots and group photos where you need more of the scene in frame.

Durability and long-term software support are also part of the package. The Motorola Edge 70 Pro is described as waterproof, making it a more practical everyday option for users who want added peace of mind around spills and rain. Software-wise, it will ship with Android 16 and is slated to receive at least three major Android updates plus five years of security patches—an important point for buyers who want a phone that stays secure and relevant for years.

With a modern 4nm Dimensity chip, vapor chamber cooling, a high-brightness 144Hz AMOLED display, and three 50MP cameras, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro is shaping up to be a well-rounded mid-range Android phone to watch as its launch approaches.
