The confusion began because different parts of Motorola’s own materials appeared to tell two different stories. Some fine print suggested that the Motorola Edge 70 Max would only receive two major Android updates and three years of security updates. However, the technical specifications listed a stronger commitment: three Android version upgrades and five years of security support.
Motorola has now confirmed that the better of the two figures is correct. That means the Edge 70 Max will get three major Android upgrades, matching the update policy offered for the standard Motorola Edge 70.
Still, while this is an improvement over the earlier concern, it may not be enough to satisfy users who keep their phones for many years.
