MOONDROP DISCDREAM Portable CD Player Launches in Japan for Audiophiles

MOONDROP is set to launch the DISCDREAM portable CD player in Japan on February 9, 2024. Designed with audiophiles in mind, this premium Hi-Fi player incorporates advanced digital audio player (DAP) features, making it compatible with modern digital audio file formats.

The DISCDREAM offers an updated take on the portable CD players of the past, aiming to deliver superior audio quality with lower noise and distortion. The new player distinguishes itself with an array of technological enhancements tailored for an audiophile-grade listening experience.

Among the high-quality components of the DISCDREAM is a 32-bit MasterHIFI Cirrus Logic decoding chip that works in concert with three audio-grade oscillators, ensuring precise and accurate timings. Additionally, it boasts an exceptional motor drive and laser head, both reinforced with electronic and physical shock protection, ensuring that CDs are read accurately.

The device’s robust 3500 mAh battery powers six individual, stabilized power supply chips. The line out port can deliver 2 Vrms, while the dedicated headphone port offers a powerful 500 mW output. This setup results in stunningly clear audio, boasting 115 dB dynamic range and a remarkably low harmonic distortion of 0.00037%.

Further addressing the needs of contemporary listeners, the DISCDREAM includes DAP functionality. It features a microSD card slot to play various digital files, such as APE, FLAC, LL-AAC, MP3, OGG, and WMA. It also offers USB-to-PC connectivity, enabling it to serve as a desktop sound card for direct streaming of PCM (44.1 to 384 kHz) and DSD (2.8224 to 11.2896 MHz).

The DISCDREAM is priced at $199 in America and will be available for 37,500円 in Japan. For the optimal listening experience, it is advised to use top-grade, wired headphones. Please note that prices, availability, and launch details are subject to change.
