Qualcomm is set to unveil a more budget-friendly version of its Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, perhaps branded as the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 or Snapdragon 8s Elite. As excitement builds for this release, MediaTek is also making headlines with its rumored plans for a new, less powerful variant of the Dimensity 9400, potentially named the Dimensity 9350.
According to speculation, the Dimensity 9350 will be positioned as the main rival to Qualcomm’s anticipated Snapdragon offering. While detailed technical specifications remain under wraps, insider buzz suggests this new chipset will offer a cost-effective solution for MediaTek’s smartphone partners. This chipset aims to deliver many of the flagship features found in the Dimensity 9400 at a more affordable price point. A key distinction between these chips is expected to be their production process.
The Dimensity 9400 is produced using TSMC’s cutting-edge second-generation 3nm process, while it’s speculated that the Dimensity 9350 may be manufactured on the slightly older 4nm ‘N4P’ technology, mirroring the approach taken with its Dimensity 9300 series predecessors. Although performance specs for the 9350 are not yet available, it is anticipated that the new chip could surpass the existing flagship offerings from MediaTek in terms of all-around performance.
One potential area of improvement for the Dimensity 9350 could be its L3 cache size. The Dimensity 9400 boasts 50% more L3 cache than its predecessor, boosting both single-core and multi-core performance. If MediaTek applies this successful strategy to the Dimensity 9350, it might significantly enhance the chip’s capabilities. While nothing is set in stone, these developments suggest exciting times ahead in the world of processors. Keep an eye out for future updates to see how these rumors develop.
