The link-in-bio tool Linktree has taken a significant step to enhance its platform by acquiring the social media scheduling tool Plann. This strategic move allows Linktree to offer new features to its users, including the ability to plan and auto-post to various social platforms like TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
Although headquartered in Sydney, Australia, Plann will continue to serve its existing users without immediate changes. The full extent to which Linktree will adopt Plann’s features, such as the AI-powered caption generator, remains to be seen. However, integration into the Linktree platform is expected in the near future, which will potentially streamline the social media planning process for many content creators.
Details regarding any additional costs for the scheduling tool after its integration into Linktree have not been disclosed. Upon its launch on Linktree, current users of Plann will make a transition to the new integrated platform.
Linktree will not only assimilate Plann’s technological capabilities but also its human resources; the entire Plann team is set to join Linktree. This includes founder Christy Laurence, who will become a permanent member of the Linktree team.
The addition of social scheduling to Linktree is in response to high demand from the platform’s large user base, which includes over 50 million creators and businesses. Such an enhancement is aimed at helping these users more efficiently distribute their content, enabling them to allocate more time towards creative endeavors.
Linktree’s co-founder and CEO, Alex Zaccaria, expressed the company’s intent to simplify and improve the ways in which content creators manage, grow, and monetize their audience. With these new features, Linktree aims to empower creators to focus on what they do best: creating.
This acquisition is the latest in a series of strategic moves by Linktree, further expanding its services following the acquisition of Koji and Bento, as well as the automated music link aggregation platform Odesli.
In a separate development, earlier this year, Linktree also ventured into social commerce by launching a beta offering that allows creators to create storefronts on their link-in-bio pages and earn a commission on sales ranging from 12% to 15%.
As Linktree continues to grow, surpassing 50 million users, the platform is evolving into a more comprehensive tool for content creators, providing them with improved features to support their ever-expanding online presence and business ventures.
