M4 Pro Geekbench 6 results are out

M4 Pro’s 14-Core CPU Surpasses M3 Max and M2 Ultra in Geekbench 6 Performance Test

The excitement surrounding Apple’s M4 Pro chipset is reaching new heights as recent Geekbench 6 results shed light on its impressive performance. Previously, there were speculative results hinting that the M4 Pro was outpacing both the M3 Max and the M2 Ultra chipsets. With these official figures in hand, it seems those estimations were right on target.

The M4 Pro, powering the latest Mac mini model Mac16,11, boasts 48GB of unified RAM and comes equipped with a formidable 14-core CPU, divided into 10 performance cores and four efficiency cores. Though the expanded memory capacity doesn’t directly boost the Geekbench 6 scores, the additional performance cores certainly make an impact. This powerhouse achieves a remarkable multi-core score of 21,866, complemented by a single-core score of 3,546.

One noteworthy advancement is the slight increase in clock speed, registering at 4.49GHz compared to the previous 4.41GHz. This modification provides the Mac mini with a competitive edge, particularly in multi-core scenarios. However, despite this boost in frequency, the single-core result doesn’t surpass the scores logged by the M4-powered MacBook Pro, which operated at the lower clock speed of 4.41GHz.

The variation might be attributed to different operating system versions—macOS 15.1 running on the Mac mini compared to macOS 15.0 on the MacBook Pro—which could influence performance discrepancies. As we await more confirmations in the future, these insights are noteworthy for Apple’s lineup.

The M4 Pro triumphs over the high-end configurations of both the M3 Max, with its 16-core CPU, and the M2 Ultra, featuring a 24-core setup. This demonstrates a significant leap in performance across just a few generations, allowing users to enjoy capabilities akin to previous SoCs while benefitting from reduced power consumption.
