Lenovo ThinkPad T1g Gen 9 Arrives in the US With Intel Panther Lake, RTX 5070 Option, and Premium Pricing
Lenovo has officially started selling the ThinkPad T1g Gen 9 in the United States, bringing its latest 16-inch performance laptop to buyers who want workstation-class power in a familiar ThinkPad design. The new model succeeds the previous Gen 8 version and arrives with updated Intel Panther Lake processors, Nvidia RTX 50-series graphics, faster memory, high-end display options, and modern connectivity.
The biggest talking point, however, is the price. Lenovo lists the ThinkPad T1g Gen 9 with a starting price of $6,699 before discounts, although an early 38% discount currently brings the entry configuration down to $4,109. The higher-end model with stronger graphics and an OLED touchscreen is currently priced at $4,469 after the same discount.
For now, Lenovo is offering two preconfigured versions in the US. Both models use the Intel Core Ultra 7 366H, a 16-core processor with Intel vPro support. Earlier expectations suggested that the laptop could be offered with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 386H, but Lenovo’s current US listings only show the Core Ultra 7 option.
The base configuration combines the Core Ultra 7 366H with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU featuring 8GB of VRAM. It also includes 64GB of LPCAMM2-8533 memory and a 2TB PCIe Gen 5 SSD, making it a powerful option for demanding productivity, creative workloads, multitasking, and professional applications.
Display quality is another major focus. The RTX 5060 model comes with a 16-inch IPS panel offering a sharp 3840 x 2400 resolution, up to 800 nits of peak brightness, and a 60Hz refresh rate. That should appeal to users who need a high-resolution screen for editing, design work, spreadsheets, coding, or general professional use.
The upgraded configuration steps things up with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 12GB of VRAM. It also swaps the IPS display for a tandem OLED touchscreen that can reach up to 1,500 nits of brightness. This panel supports a variable refresh rate from 40Hz to 120Hz, making it more versatile for smooth scrolling, media work, and power-conscious usage.
Despite the hardware upgrades, the ThinkPad T1g Gen 9 keeps a design that closely resembles its predecessor. It includes a backlit keyboard with an integrated fingerprint reader, but Lenovo has not added a number pad. That may disappoint users who frequently work with spreadsheets or financial data, though others may prefer the more centered keyboard layout.
Lenovo has also equipped the laptop with a strong selection of business and creator-friendly features. The ThinkPad T1g Gen 9 includes a 5MP webcam with a privacy shutter, Wi-Fi 7 support, Thunderbolt 5, HDMI 2.1, and 10Gbps USB-A ports. This makes it well suited for users who need fast external storage, high-resolution monitor support, docking options, and reliable wireless performance.
The ThinkPad T1g Gen 9 is aimed at professionals who need a premium 16-inch laptop with strong CPU and GPU performance, a high-quality display, and enterprise-ready features. With Intel Panther Lake, Nvidia RTX 50-series graphics, 64GB of fast LPCAMM2 memory, and PCIe Gen 5 storage, it is positioned as a serious machine for creators, engineers, developers, and power users.
Still, the price will likely be the deciding factor for many buyers. Even with Lenovo’s current discount, the ThinkPad T1g Gen 9 remains a costly investment. The RTX 5060 model starts at $4,109, while the RTX 5070 version costs $4,469. For users who want ThinkPad durability, premium components, and high-end performance in a 16-inch form factor, Lenovo’s newest model is now available in the US.
