Lenovo is expanding its 17-inch gaming laptop lineup with a new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 option, giving gamers another configuration to consider if they want more video memory for modern titles.
The latest addition is a GeForce RTX 5070 with 12GB of VRAM. This joins the existing GPU options in the range and is aimed at players who want a bit more breathing room in demanding games, especially newer AAA releases that can push beyond 8GB of graphics memory at higher settings.
According to Lenovo’s product specifications, the new RTX 5070 12GB variant carries the same 115W Total Graphics Power as the RTX 5070 8GB model. It also features the same 2,347MHz boost clock, meaning the biggest difference appears to be the increased VRAM rather than a major change in power or speed.
For now, the new configuration does not appear to be available for purchase through major retail channels. However, Lenovo’s official specification listing suggests the laptop will be offered in a fixed hardware setup.
The RTX 5070 12GB model will be paired with an Intel Core i7-14700HX processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. This should make it a strong option for gaming, multitasking, and everyday performance, although some users may eventually want to upgrade the memory depending on their workload.
The laptop also includes a 60Wh battery and supports 245W charging, which is expected for a gaming-focused machine with a high-power CPU and GPU combination. Battery life will likely depend heavily on usage, especially during gaming or GPU-heavy tasks.
Lenovo is keeping the same display setup as before: a 17-inch IPS panel with Full HD resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, and 300 nits of brightness. The high refresh rate should appeal to competitive gamers who prioritize smooth gameplay, while the large 17-inch screen gives the laptop a more desktop-like experience.
The move to a 12GB RTX 5070 could be important for players concerned about VRAM limits in newer games. While 8GB graphics cards can still perform well in many titles, some recent games are beginning to benefit from 12GB or more, particularly when using high-resolution textures or more demanding graphics settings.
With this new configuration, Lenovo appears to be targeting gamers who want a balance between performance, memory capacity, and price without jumping to more expensive GPU options. Availability and pricing have not yet been confirmed, but the RTX 5070 12GB model could become an appealing choice once it reaches stores.
