Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 Goes Global With Intel Panther Lake Power

Lenovo first unveiled the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 at CES 2026 in January, and now the refreshed flagship business ultrabook is finally close to landing in customers’ hands. Preorders are open through Lenovo’s own online store, with shipments scheduled to begin on March 24 in select countries, including the UK.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 is the newest entry in Lenovo’s long-running X1 Carbon lineup, known for combining a premium, thin-and-light design with a 14-inch display and the instantly recognizable black ThinkPad look. This generation is positioned as more than a routine refresh, bringing a noticeable redesign compared with the previous model.

One of the biggest updates is the move to Intel’s Panther Lake platform, with configurations reaching up to Intel Core Ultra X7. Alongside the new processors, Lenovo is leaning harder into repairability and modular upgrades—an area that matters to business buyers planning to keep systems in service for years. Unlike the prior generation, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 includes user-replaceable USB-C ports. Lenovo has also made the keyboard easier to service, thanks to a new “space frame” internal construction that adds a central magnesium frame, allowing the keyboard to be removed as a separate component.

That redesigned internal structure also helps Lenovo push power further than before. The laptop’s thermal design power can reach up to 30 W, up from 22.5 W on the previous generation, which should translate into stronger sustained performance for demanding productivity workflows.

In the UK, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 Aura Edition starts at £2,099. The entry configuration includes an Intel Core Ultra 5 325, 32 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD, and a 14-inch WUXGA IPS display. A step-up model costs £2,690 and upgrades several key areas: you get an Intel Core Ultra 7 355, 32 GB RAM, a 1 TB SSD, a sharper 2.8K OLED screen, plus an improved 10 MP webcam.

Lenovo is also offering higher-end CPU options such as the Intel Core Ultra 7 356H and Intel Core Ultra 7 X7 358H, with memory scaling up to 64 GB. At the moment, that 64 GB ceiling appears tied to the Core X7 configurations, which start above £3,000. Buyers can also tailor the feel and connectivity of the machine, including choosing between a mechanical touchpad or a larger haptic touchpad, and opting in or out of WWAN antenna support depending on whether mobile broadband is needed.

With preorders open and shipping dates set, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 is shaping up to be one of Lenovo’s most significant X1 Carbon updates in years—pairing a new Intel platform with practical design changes aimed at easier repairs, stronger performance headroom, and more configuration flexibility for business users.
