Lenovo Legion Go 2 leak teases OLED 144Hz display, Ryzen Z2 chips, and redesigned controllers ahead of IFA 2025
A fresh wave of official-looking images has revealed much more about the Lenovo Legion Go 2, the follow-up to Lenovo’s popular Windows handheld. First shown briefly in January, the new model is now expected to be unveiled at IFA 2025, and the latest visuals confirm several upgrades across display, controls, cooling, and connectivity.
The biggest news is the screen. The Legion Go 2 moves to an OLED panel measuring 8.8 inches with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 1200p resolution. It supports a 144Hz variable refresh rate, 10-point touch, and hits a claimed 97% DCI-P3 color gamut. The display is rated for 500 nits brightness and meets VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000, which should translate to deep blacks, high contrast, and smooth motion that gamers will notice immediately.
Battery capacity remains a hefty 74Wh, now split into two cells, and it ships with a 65W adapter. As with the previous generation, the handheld is expected to take advantage of higher-wattage USB-C PD chargers for faster top-ups when available.
Lenovo appears to be sticking with the modular formula that made the original stand out, keeping detachable Truestrike Controllers but revamping them for comfort and versatility. The images show a redesigned shape and, notably, what looks like a USB-C port on the controller itself. If confirmed, that would allow users to charge the controllers independently, without docking them on the main unit. Better still, these new Truestrike Controllers are said to be backward compatible with the first-generation Legion Go.
There are thoughtful layout tweaks too. The MicroSD card slot and 3.5 mm audio jack have been relocated from the top to the bottom edge, helping with cable management when playing in handheld or tabletop mode. The device also supports MicroSD cards up to 2TB and includes a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button for quick, secure logins.
Under the hood, configurations are expected to include AMD’s Ryzen Z2 and Ryzen Z2 Extreme options. Connectivity looks modern and flexible with dual USB 4.0 Type-C ports for fast data, display output, and charging. Thermal management gets a notable upgrade as well: Lenovo’s Legion Coldfront cooling returns with a larger fan, bigger intake/exhaust vents, and manual fan controls, aiming to keep performance high and noise under control during intense sessions.
Accessories are part of the plan. A newly shown padded carry bag made of canvas-like material suggests Lenovo will offer protective transport options at launch. The Legion Go 2 is currently shown only in black.
