Casio is gearing up to expand its iconic G-Shock Origin line this fall with the GW-BX5600, and the first details point to two variants: GW-BX5600-1JF and GW-BX5600-1A1JF. Both models keep the classic square silhouette that fans know from the 5600 series, but introduce a modern twist with new MIP LCD displays and two distinct display styles.
Shoppers will be able to choose between standard LCD and reverse LCD options. A standard LCD shows dark digits on a light background for straightforward readability. A reverse LCD flips that look with light digits on a dark background, delivering a stealthier aesthetic that some prefer. While reverse displays can be a touch harder to read in low light, the G-Shock backlight should minimize that concern.
Based on early images, the GW-BX5600-1JF appears to feature the standard display, while the GW-BX5600-1A1JF goes for a blacked-out, reverse-LCD finish. Both versions pair a rugged resin case and band with metal accents framing the display window, staying true to the durable, everyday-wear ethos of the Origin family.
The GW-BX5600 is expected to arrive in fall 2025 as a core release within the Origin range rather than a limited collaboration or special edition. That positioning aligns it with the line that traces back to the DW-5000C from 1983, the watch that started the entire G-Shock story.
Pricing has not been confirmed yet, but expectations are that it will be in line with other Origin series models. With buzz building and details solidifying, an official announcement should be close. If you’ve been waiting for a fresh, square G-Shock with modern MIP display tech and a choice of standard or reverse LCD, keep an eye out for the GW-BX5600-1JF and GW-BX5600-1A1JF.
