Apple’s rumored October 27 event could bring OLED MacBook Pro, M6 iMac, and OLED iPad mini
Apple may be preparing for a busy October, with fresh reports suggesting that a second launch event could take place on or around Tuesday, October 27. If the information proves accurate, this could be one of the company’s most exciting Mac-focused announcements in years.
Apple has already confirmed a product event for Tuesday, October 13, which is expected to focus on smart home devices. However, another presentation may follow just two weeks later, reportedly combining an online keynote for the public with an in-person hands-on session for selected media.
The rumored October 27 Apple event is said to include at least four new products, with the biggest highlight being a redesigned MacBook Pro featuring an OLED display and touchscreen support.
The star of the event could be a next-generation MacBook Pro available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. This model is expected to introduce a completely refreshed design, moving away from the familiar look of the current lineup.
One of the most talked-about upgrades is the possible switch to an OLED panel. If true, this would mark a major display upgrade for the MacBook Pro, offering deeper blacks, improved contrast, richer colors, and potentially better power efficiency compared with current mini-LED screens.
Even more notable is the rumored addition of touchscreen functionality. Apple has long avoided adding touchscreens to Mac computers, keeping touch input limited to the iPhone and iPad. A touchscreen MacBook Pro would represent a major shift in Apple’s laptop strategy and could make the device more versatile for creative professionals, designers, students, and productivity-focused users.
The redesigned MacBook Pro is also rumored to replace the notch with a Dynamic Island-style cutout, similar to what Apple uses on recent iPhone models. This could give the laptop a more modern appearance while making better use of the top area of the display.
The chassis is expected to become noticeably lighter, though only slightly thinner. That suggests Apple may be focusing on portability without sacrificing performance, cooling, battery life, or the premium build quality the MacBook Pro line is known for.
However, there may be one disappointing detail for performance enthusiasts. The new high-end MacBook Pro models are rumored to continue using Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips rather than introducing M6 Pro and M6 Max processors. Reports suggest Apple may skip those higher-end M6 variants and wait until the M7 generation to deliver another major leap in ARM-based Mac performance.
Alongside the redesigned MacBook Pro, Apple is also expected to introduce a refreshed iMac powered by the Apple M6 chip. The iMac has become one of Apple’s most recognizable desktop computers, and an M6 upgrade would likely bring better performance, improved efficiency, and smoother multitasking for everyday users, creators, and home office setups.
A 14-inch MacBook Pro with the current design is also reportedly planned. This model would keep the existing chassis while receiving an upgrade to the Apple M6 processor. It could serve as a more familiar and possibly more affordable option for buyers who want improved performance without waiting for or paying for the fully redesigned OLED MacBook Pro.
Another expected announcement is a new iPad mini with an OLED display. The compact tablet has a loyal fan base thanks to its portable size, strong performance, and usefulness for reading, gaming, note-taking, travel, and media consumption. An OLED screen would make the iPad mini more appealing by improving color quality, contrast, and viewing experience.
If these rumors are accurate, Apple’s late-October event could be a major moment for its Mac and iPad lineup. The possible arrival of the first OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro would be especially significant, as it could reshape how users interact with macOS and blur the line between MacBook and iPad functionality.
For now, Apple has not officially confirmed the rumored October 27 event or the products expected to appear. Still, the timing makes sense, as Apple often uses the fall season to refresh its Mac lineup ahead of the holiday shopping period.
If the leaks are correct, Apple fans may soon see an M6 iMac, a refreshed 14-inch MacBook Pro, an OLED iPad mini, and a redesigned OLED MacBook Pro with touchscreen support. Among them, the new MacBook Pro would easily be the most important announcement, potentially marking one of the biggest design and display changes in MacBook history.
