The latest survey from DIGITIMES Research unveils that the global top-5 notebook brands experienced a remarkable 24% surge in shipments this August, driven by robust inventory-replenishment orders from various end channels preparing for the peak season.
The survey, focusing on non-detachable models and excluding Apple, highlights a significant uptick in consumer demand. This resurgence, combined with a lower shipment baseline in July, resulted in the noticeable monthly increase. Year-on-year, shipments grew by 7%, signaling a stabilization after a period of market downturn.
In August, Lenovo led the pack with a strong comeback in European channel demand and boosted growth in the Chinese market, culminating in a notable 30% month-on-month increase in shipments. HP outpaced its competitors with an impressive 50% rise in shipments, fueled by an aggressive push in European and American consumer markets and enhanced output from overseas production facilities. However, Dell lagged slightly, primarily due to a slower recovery in the demand for commercial devices.
The top three notebook ODMs combined saw a 16% month-on-month increase in shipments. Notably, Quanta experienced over 20% growth, thanks to substantial order surges from HP and Asustek.
These trends suggest that the notebook market is entering a phase of recovery and stabilization, with manufacturers ramping up production to meet the upcoming seasonal demands. The global tech landscape is evolving, with major players making strategic moves to capitalize on renewed consumer interest and market dynamics.
