Konami is bringing back a long-lost Yu-Gi-Oh! classic with a major modern upgrade. Yu-Gi-Oh! TAG FORCE GX has been announced as a full remake of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force 3, the 2008 PSP game that was originally released only in Japan. For many fans outside the country, this marks the first official chance to experience one of the most requested entries in the Tag Force series.
Revealed during Nintendo Direct on September 9, Yu-Gi-Oh! TAG FORCE GX is being rebuilt for today’s platforms with upgraded visuals, redesigned animations, and improved character models. Unlike the original PSP version, characters will now remain visible throughout duels, making battles feel more dynamic and closer to the spirit of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime.
The remake is not just a visual refresh. Konami is expanding the experience with more than 3,800 cards, giving players a wide range of deck-building options across different strategies and playstyles. The game will also include over 100 fully voiced characters, all updated with enhanced presentation to bring Duel Academy and its cast to life in a more polished way.
One of the biggest additions is online multiplayer. Yu-Gi-Oh! TAG FORCE GX will feature casual matches and private matchmaking, allowing players to duel friends or test their decks against others online. This is a major upgrade for a title that originally launched on handheld hardware without the modern online features players now expect.
The game will also bring back the school-life atmosphere of Duel Academy through refreshed mini-games and expanded content. Fans of the older Tag Force titles can look forward to a gallery mode that revisits story moments from previous entries, adding an extra layer of nostalgia for longtime players.
Yu-Gi-Oh! TAG FORCE GX is scheduled to launch on February 16, 2027, for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The game will be priced at $49.99, and pre-orders are already available with platform-specific bonuses.
At this time, Konami has not announced versions for PlayStation or Xbox.
