KLA Launches Chennai R&D and Innovation Hub to Accelerate India’s Semiconductor Growth

US-based KLA Corporation, a global leader in semiconductor process control and process-enabling technology, has officially opened a major new R&D and Innovation Hub in Chennai—an important milestone that significantly expands the company’s footprint in India.

Backed by an investment of INR 3 billion (around US$36 million), the new facility spans 311,000 square feet and is built for long-term growth. At full capacity, it can accommodate up to 1,300 employees, positioning Chennai as a key center for KLA’s next phase of innovation and engineering development.

The Chennai hub is set to play a strategic role in advancing KLA’s core strengths, with a strong focus on software engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), and semiconductor process control. As chipmaking becomes more complex and the demand for smarter, faster manufacturing tools increases, the hub is expected to contribute to the development of high-impact technologies that support the semiconductor ecosystem.

With this expansion, KLA is reinforcing its commitment to India as a high-value destination for advanced engineering, innovation, and talent—while also strengthening its ability to deliver cutting-edge solutions to the global semiconductor industry.
