Issues with Screen Color on Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

Recently unveiled, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has been making waves as a potential powerhouse with its bright screen, rugged build, enhanced performance, updated cameras, and extended battery life. Amongst its features, the device boasts the robust Gorilla Glass Armor protection. However, reports have surfaced highlighting concerns with its new display technology.

Screen Displays Washed-Out Colors in Vivid Mode

Users have begun to report a notable issue with the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display, mainly when the device is set to the ‘Vivid’ color profile. In comparison with its predecessor, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the colors on the Galaxy S24 Ultra appear washed out. However, this discrepancy does not manifest in the ‘Natural’ color setting, where the color presentation is comparably similar to the former model. These issues have sparked discussions across various social media platforms and forums.

The above image demonstrates that the Vivid setting increases color saturation on older models such as the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Conversely, the color intensity on the Galaxy S24 Ultra remains relatively unchanged despite selecting this profile. There’s speculation that there may be a malfunction with the Vivid profile toggle itself, potentially signaling that it is not engaging properly. It is hoped that Samsung will acknowledge and address this through a software update soon, although it is not clear if the issue is rooted in hardware or software limitations.

Other concerns have also been flagged regarding the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This includes the absence of certain Always on Display (AoD) features, with users noting the lack of landscape rotation and independent brightness controls. AoD brightness is currently linked to the device’s main screen brightness, which may become uncomfortably intense at night. In addition, the camera system has been critiqued for overexposing in daylight and underperforming in detail capture during low-light conditions.

Despite these setbacks, the Galaxy S24 series showcases numerous advancements and remains a compelling option for consumers seeking the latest in smartphone technology. It is expected that Samsung will take active steps to rectify these issues and enhance user experience moving forward.
