Paired with the upgraded A20 Pro chip, the latest flagship appears to deliver stronger sustained performance, lower temperatures, and power limits that come surprisingly close to some of the most aggressive Android gaming phones.
A recent thermal performance test compared the iPhone 18 Pro Max with several major rivals, including the OnePlus 15, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iQOO 15 Ultra. The Android models in the comparison were powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, giving a clear look at how Apple’s newest thermal design stacks up against high-end Android hardware.

When the fan was set to maximum speed, the iQOO 15 Ultra pushed its power limit up to 7.3W while lowering its temperature slightly to 46.2°C.
Even then, the iPhone 18 Pro Max stands out because it achieves strong thermal control without relying on a dedicated cooling fan. That highlights the benefit of Apple’s combination of an efficient A20 Pro chip and a refined vapor chamber design.
