iPhone 18 Pro Leak Points to Smaller Dynamic Island, Huge Vapor Chamber, and Major Hardware Upgrades
Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about smartphone launches, and a new leak may have revealed two of its biggest design and performance changes. According to a recently shared CT scan, the iPhone 18 Pro could feature a noticeably smaller Dynamic Island, along with a much larger vapor chamber cooling system that stretches toward the top of the device.
The smaller Dynamic Island has been rumored for some time, but this latest leak adds fresh weight to the claim. The scan reportedly shows that Apple has moved the infrared flood illuminator used for Face ID to the side, possibly placing it beneath the display. If accurate, this would leave the central pill-shaped cutout to house only the front-facing camera and Face ID scanner, allowing Apple to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island without removing its core functionality.
This would be a meaningful design change for users who have been waiting for Apple to shrink the display cutout. Since its debut, the Dynamic Island has become one of the most recognizable iPhone design elements, but many users still want more usable screen space. A smaller version on the iPhone 18 Pro would make the display feel cleaner and more immersive while keeping Apple’s interactive notification and multitasking feature intact.
The same leak also points to a massive vapor chamber inside the iPhone 18 Pro. A larger cooling system could help the phone manage heat more efficiently, especially during demanding tasks such as gaming, 4K video recording, AI processing, and extended camera use. If Apple is preparing a more powerful chipset for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, improved thermal management would be a major upgrade for sustained performance.
Camera upgrades are also expected to play a major role in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The devices are rumored to feature a 48MP triple-camera system, including a variable-aperture main camera, an improved ultra-wide camera with better optical image stabilization, and a periscope telephoto lens. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are also rumored to launch in four color options: Dark Gray, Dark Cherry, Light Blue, and Silver. Apple is reportedly using a new aluminum refinement process for the frame to help prevent color fading, an issue that affected some previous Pro models. The improved process is said to increase corrosion resistance and help the finish stay more durable over time.
Pricing, however, may be one of the biggest talking points. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to start at around $1,399, which would be a significant jump compared with the $1,099 starting price of the iPhone 17 Pro. If that price is accurate, Apple will likely position the iPhone 18 Pro as a more advanced premium device with major improvements in cooling, camera hardware, display efficiency, connectivity, and design.
While these details remain based on leaks and early reports, the iPhone 18 Pro is already looking like a substantial upgrade.
