iPhone 17 Pro Max Set to Debut with Exclusive 12GB RAM and Advanced Vapor Chamber Cooling

The upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max is set to receive a significant memory upgrade, according to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. This model will be unique in offering 12 GB of RAM and featuring an advanced cooling system.

Despite Apple not yet having unveiled the iPhone 16 lineup, which is scheduled for a September 9 announcement, details about its successor, the iPhone 17, have started emerging. The new lineup is expected to include 120 Hz screens on all models, updated selfie cameras, a new Slim/Air version, and even a 2 TB storage variant.

Kuo’s latest insights suggest that the 12 GB of RAM will be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Initially, there were speculations that the 15 Pro model would also feature this memory upgrade. Additionally, the Pro Max variant will include vapor chamber cooling to help maintain optimal performance, while other models will use a graphite sheet. Although the vapor chamber might not have a significant impact on everyday use, it could help the device stay cooler during intensive tasks.

This strategy appears to be part of Apple’s effort to further distinguish the iPhone 17 Pro Max from its non-Max counterpart. Historically, the Pro Max versions were essentially larger-screen iterations of the Pro models with minimal extra features. The iPhone 15 Pro Max, for instance, introduced a periscope telephoto camera as a unique feature, and the difference in capabilities between the Pro and Pro Max models is expected to increase going forward.
