Apple has just unveiled the fourth developer beta of iOS 26, offering a peek into exciting updates that promise to enhance user experience. This update, coming ahead of the anticipated public beta release, introduces slight tweaks to the Liquid Glass design and brings back AI-driven notification summaries for news, along with several other enhancements.
Developer betas allow app creators to fine-tune their applications ahead of the public release, ensuring they’re ready for the big launch. Over the years, due to high demand, Apple has started sharing public betas, letting iPhone users explore new features with fewer bugs following the Worldwide Developers Conference.
The latest from iOS 26 beta 4 includes a fresh “Welcome” splash screen, guiding users through updates like Siri’s AI-driven notification summaries and prioritization features. The Camera app has also received an overhaul, promising a better experience.
This year, Apple paused its AI notification summaries after a BBC report highlighted an error where a news summary misrepresented a headline, leading Apple to promise clearer notifications indicating AI involvement. In beta, this feature now comes with a cautionary note advising users to double-check information, acknowledging the potential for misinterpretation.
The Liquid Glass redesign continues to evolve. Although beta 3 reeled in some transparency, beta 4 reinstates it in apps like the App Store and Apple Music. A notable visual change is in the Notification Center, which now dynamically adjusts the tint as you scroll, along with a darker wallpaper effect when viewing notifications for a more eye-friendly experience.
Additional features include a dynamic wallpaper that shifts colors and new CarPlay backgrounds. Although detailed release notes for beta 4 aren’t available yet, they likely include bug fixes and performance tweaks.
Apple has also updated other betas including iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, visionOS 26, and Xcode 26, aligning with the innovations introduced in iOS 26.
