IO Interactive has officially ended its publishing partnership with Build a Rocket Boy for the action-adventure game MindsEye, marking a major shift in how the title will be supported and managed going forward.
As part of the split, IO Interactive has handed back the publishing rights to Build a Rocket Boy. That means the developer will now take full control as the sole publisher, handling everything from ongoing community support to coordination with platform partners. IO Interactive noted that its involvement is effectively finished, aside from any necessary transitional steps required to transfer publisher-of-record status to Build a Rocket Boy. Both sides say they’re working closely to ensure the handover happens smoothly over the next few weeks, with minimal disruption for players.
The change also affects previously announced content. The Hitman crossover mission revealed in June 2025, which was planned as a special in-game event inside MindsEye, has been canceled and will not be released. While that collaboration is no longer happening, Build a Rocket Boy has indicated it still intends to work with partners on other projects in the future.
MindsEye originally launched in June 2025 for Windows PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. For players, the key takeaway is that future updates, publishing decisions, and any new content plans will now come directly from Build a Rocket Boy, with IO Interactive stepping away after the transition is completed.
