Introducing the Samsung Galaxy A56: Sleek Design, Extended Software Support, and Enhanced Hardware

Samsung has just unveiled the Galaxy A56, marking it as the successor to last year’s A55. While the design from the front might seem familiar, turn it around, and you’ll notice a significant style update. The rear now features a sleek, pill-shaped module housing the triple-camera setup, drawing inspiration from the aesthetic of Samsung’s latest flagship models like the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Z Fold 6.

The camera specifications on the back remain consistent with last year’s model, boasting a 50 MP primary sensor complete with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 5 MP macro lens, and a 12 MP ultrawide camera. However, the front camera is where you’ll find a noticeable change. Samsung has upped the game with a 32 MP selfie camera, enhanced with HDR support and capable of recording in 4K.

Front and center is a slightly larger 6.7-inch AMOLED display, a step up by 0.1 inch from its predecessor. This screen doesn’t just stretch out a bit more but also dazzles brighter with a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, although the refresh rate holds steady at a smooth 120 Hz.

Powering this device is the new Exynos 1580 chip, which Samsung claims offers a substantial performance boost—37% more efficient and with a GPU that’s 37% faster compared to the Exynos 1480 in the A55. All these specs are supported by a robust 5,000 mAh battery. While the battery size itself hasn’t changed, the charging speed sure has, now supporting up to 45 W charging, providing a speedier top-up session.

On the software front, the Galaxy A56 5G operates on One UI 7. This new upgrade introduces a variety of AI-powered enhancements, including a more intuitive Circle to Search with Google, a feature called Best Face to refine group shots, and an Object Eraser for cleaning up photos. To sweeten the deal, Samsung assures buyers of six major Android updates alongside six years of security patches, promising substantial longevity for the device.

The Samsung Galaxy A56 5G is available in two storage options: 128 GB for €479 and 256 GB for €529 within the European market. You can choose from trendy colors like light gray, pink, olive, and graphite to suit your style.
