Unlike typical dating apps that resemble elaborate resumes, LoveJack centers around creativity and brevity. Users encounter five words chosen by potential matches—words that could be anything from personal traits to quirky details—before revealing their profile pictures. This unique approach encourages witty interactions and steers users away from mundane questions and overused pickup lines.
LeStage and Le developed LoveJack after growing frustrated with the superficial nature of current dating platforms. Their aim was to reintroduce an element of fun, moving away from the polished images and bios that dominate the scene. LeStage, inspired by the five-word speeches at the Webby Awards and the popular Wordle game, wanted to bring this concise creativity into the dating world.
The app introduces intriguing features like the “Bet On” and “Hold” options. Users place a five-word opening line as a bet to express interest, while the “Hold” option allows them to bookmark profiles for later consideration. Limited to five matches per day, users are encouraged to be strategic and thoughtful in their choices.
Every day, five-word descriptions can be updated, allowing users to track how personalities unfold over time. With a forthcoming premium subscription, the “All In” feature will enable users to focus their energy on one potential match per day, enhancing the exclusiveness of interactions.
To tackle ghosting, LoveJack automates a farewell message using preset notes created by users. This small touch ensures clear communication when connections aren’t pursued further.
Safety and privacy are paramount. LoveJack encourages pseudonyms for anonymity and implements a selfie verification process to build trust. The app also equips users with safety features like reporting, blocking, and emergency contact capabilities, ensuring a secure environment for all.
Launching first in London with an iOS version, LoveJack plans to expand into U.S. cities soon, followed by an Android launch in India later this summer. Interested users can join the waitlist for an early access experience today.
