Introducing Bixby’s Fresh Look

Samsung’s AI-powered voice assistant, Bixby, introduced in 2017, has consistently been a part of the Galaxy ecosystem. Despite a mix of criticism and laughter directed at it, Samsung continues to invest in the development of Bixby. The latest update has provided Bixby with a refreshed visual design that adds a more three-dimensional feel to the user interface.

Samsung has been integrating new Galaxy AI features, but this hasn’t lessened the company’s commitment to Bixby. Amidst speculation regarding potential replacements due to new AI advancements, Samsung has confirmed that Bixby will remain part of their ecosystem, coexisting with Galaxy AI. This reassures users accustomed to Bixby that they won’t have to adapt to a new system.

A Fresh Look for Bixby

Bixby’s previous interface was notably minimalistic, featuring a small, responsive card at the bottom of the screen that served as an indicator for voice interaction. This card would expand and contract as you spoke, providing an interactive visual cue.

What’s New?

The latest design update brings a notable change to the Bixby interface. Gone is the familiar pill-shaped element, replaced by a new shape that resonates with the Bixby logo—a circlular form with a distinctive corner notch, giving the impression of a three-dimensional sphere enhanced with a dynamic wavy animation. This refreshed design intentionally employs lighting and shadow effects to add depth to the interface.

Aside from the cosmetic updates, users will encounter results presented in translucent cards. In contrast to the older versions, which had a slight blue hue, the current design opts for a flat gray color scheme. Although this might be seen as a questionable choice by some, it represents a slight deviation from Samsung’s established design language without straying too far from the original aesthetic.

Samsung’s commitment to Bixby, combined with this latest visual upgrade, signals the company’s intention to maintain Bixby as a viable and visually appealing option within its suite of Galaxy AI services.
