Into the Unwell Debuts a Fresh Trailer at Day of the Devs

Into the Unwell Brings Chaotic Co-Op Roguelite Action to a Surreal Rubber-Hose Nightmare

Into the Unwell is shaping up to be one of the most unusual co-op action roguelites on the horizon. Developed by She Was Such A Good Horse and published by Coffee Stain Publishing, the game drops players into a bizarre animated world inspired by classic rubber-hose cartoons, where strange enemies, unpredictable weapons, and absurd upgrades define every run.

Players can dive into the madness alone or join forces with up to two friends for three-player co-op action. Each playable character comes with their own unique traits, strengths, weaknesses, and abilities, giving every run a different feel. The latest trailer shown during Day of the Devs put the spotlight on Charcat, one of the game’s distinctive characters, while also teasing the offbeat personality and visual style that set Into the Unwell apart.

Rather than relying on traditional fantasy weapons or standard firearms, Into the Unwell embraces its weirdness completely. Players can battle enemies using ridiculous tools such as a worn-out mop, a half-eaten ice cream cone, or a lobotomized lollipop. These unusual weapons match the game’s chaotic tone and help create a combat system that feels both silly and surprisingly satisfying.

Like many roguelite games, Into the Unwell focuses heavily on progression, experimentation, and replayability. Each run can be changed through upgrades and modifiers that reshape how characters fight and survive. A key part of this system is Lenny’s Pharmacy, where players can combine experimental enhancements to create wild, over-the-top builds. The result is a game where every attempt can spiral into something completely unexpected.

The newly shown Day of the Devs trailer gave players another look at the game’s strange world, frantic co-op gameplay, and animated style. With its mix of surreal humor, roguelite progression, and cartoon-inspired action, Into the Unwell looks ready to offer something fresh for fans of co-op games and unpredictable roguelite adventures.

Into the Unwell was originally expected to launch through Steam Early Access, but the plan has now changed. Thanks to additional support from Coffee Stain Publishing, the developers are moving toward a full release instead, currently planned for 2027.
