“We’ve gone from many stepping to get to production. We’re now delivering an A and B step consistently. And with Lunar Lake, we’ll dispel some of the myths around the battery life of X86 versus ARM in a very declarative way. It simply is a great product,” said Gelsinger.
This confidence isn’t baseless. Gelsinger highlighted Lunar Lake’s power efficiency, suggesting that the new CPUs would debunk existing myths about X86 battery life. Initial benchmarks appear promising, showcasing Lunar Lake’s impressive battery performance.
For instance, a review of Lenovo’s Yoga 7i Aura Edition revealed the laptop can deliver over eight hours of battery life under medium workloads and up to 11 hours and 31 minutes with lighter tasks. These figures represent some of the highest battery life achieved by x86 processors, putting them in direct competition with top-tier ARM laptops.
While ARM-based CPUs, like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite SKUs, present formidable competition, Intel remains a seasoned and resilient contender in the tech arena.
