However, the initial distribution to retailers was low, creating a buzz as the limited stocks quickly vanished from shelves.
In Japan, the Core Ultra 9 285K, paired with Z890 motherboards, is selling briskly as part of bundled kits. This approach seems to tackle the supply limitations while catering to enthusiasts eager to upgrade their systems. Retailers across Japan, especially in areas like Tokyo, reported quick sell-outs, with places like Tsukumo offering these processors in bulk quantities rather than individually.
The demand is equally strong in the US, where top retailers have run out of stock. The pricing sees a variation, with the processor valued at around 115,800 Yen in Japan, equating to about $760. The official price for the North American market stands at $589, which is directly competing with previous-generation processors like the Core i9 14900K and 13900K.
What makes the Core Ultra 9 285K particularly intriguing, despite its modest gaming performance, is its prowess in productivity tasks. It excels in multithreaded applications thanks to its robust architecture of 24 cores, split between 8 P-cores and 16 E-cores, sans hyperthreading.
