Rumors are swirling in the tech world about the upcoming foldable smartphones from OnePlus and Oppo, creating a buzz of anticipation among enthusiasts. Earlier this year, we saw the release of the OnePlus Open Apex Edition, a device that bore the same hardware specifications as its predecessor, the OnePlus Open. The current price for the OnePlus Open on Amazon is $1,199.99.
There is speculation that both OnePlus and Oppo are planning to unveil their true next-generation foldable phones in early 2025. In the meantime, well-known insider @RODENT950 has provided some tantalizing hints about what we might expect from these brands. According to reports, Oppo has been testing the Find N5, which was believed to be equipped with a promising ‘quad camera setup’ similar to the rumored Find X8 Ultra. This would have marked a substantial improvement over the Find N3 and OnePlus Open, which were equipped with a 48 MP primary camera, a 64 MP telephoto lens, and a 48 MP ultra-wide-angle camera.
However, new information suggests that this quad camera upgrade might not see the light of day. It appears that Oppo has opted for a return to the tried-and-true triple-camera configuration. While details about the camera specifications remain under wraps, it is anticipated that the Find N5 will be launched in the first quarter of 2025, alongside the Find X8 Ultra.
Drawing from earlier reports, it is suggested that both the Find N5 and the OnePlus Open 2 will come with a robust 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery and will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. These devices are expected to sport an IPX8 rating and are likely to weigh less than 200 grams, combining durability with lightweight design.
Tech enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting these launches, excited about the potential advancements and innovative features that OnePlus and Oppo might bring to the table in the rapidly evolving foldable smartphone market.
