Huawei Watch 6 Pro Debuts With ECG, Ultra-Bright OLED Screen, and New X-Tap Sensor

Huawei Watch 6 and Watch 6 Pro bring ECG tracking, longer battery life, and brighter OLED display

Huawei is preparing to launch its latest smartwatch lineup, the Huawei Watch 6 and Huawei Watch 6 Pro, with a strong focus on health tracking, outdoor features, and improved battery performance. The new wearables are expected to arrive in the UK and Europe on September 23, giving smartwatch buyers another premium option in the growing health-focused wearable market.

One of the biggest highlights of the Huawei Watch 6 series is its advanced health monitoring system. Alongside the usual heart rate and SpO2 sensors, Huawei has added ECG support, allowing users to take more detailed heart-related measurements directly from the watch.

The standout feature is the upgraded X-Tap sensor located on the right side of the case. By placing a finger on the sensor, users can collect 14 different health metrics. Huawei says the sensor has been significantly improved compared with the previous generation, moving from four channels on the Huawei Watch 5 to twelve channels on the Watch 6 series. This upgrade is claimed to make the sensor twice as sensitive, potentially delivering faster and more accurate readings.

Battery life is another major selling point. The 46mm versions of the Huawei Watch 6 and Watch 6 Pro are said to offer between 4.5 and 11 days of use, depending on settings and usage patterns. That range should appeal to users who want a smartwatch that can handle daily health tracking, notifications, workouts, and sleep monitoring without needing to be charged every night.

Fitness tracking is also a key part of the experience. Huawei includes more than 100 sport modes, covering a wide range of activities for casual users, gym-goers, runners, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts. Whether users are tracking everyday workouts or more specialized training sessions, the Watch 6 series appears designed to offer broad activity support.

The Huawei Watch 6 Pro adds an exclusive Expedition app aimed at hikers and adventurers. This feature displays a map and allows users to mark waypoints, making it easier to navigate outdoor routes and keep track of important locations. For users who spend time exploring trails, remote areas, or unfamiliar environments, this could be one of the Pro model’s most useful additions.

The Watch 6 Pro is also expected to feature a bright OLED display, with promotional material pointing to a peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits. A brighter screen can make a big difference outdoors, especially under direct sunlight, where smartwatch displays often struggle with visibility.

Pricing places the Huawei Watch 6 series firmly in the premium smartwatch category. In the UK, the standard Huawei Watch 6 is expected to cost £399.99, while the Huawei Watch 6 Pro is expected to start at £599.99. That puts the Pro model in direct competition with high-end wearables focused on advanced health tools, outdoor navigation, and extended battery life.

With ECG tracking, an upgraded X-Tap sensor, strong battery life, more than 100 sport modes, and added navigation features on the Pro version, the Huawei Watch 6 lineup looks built for users who want more than basic smartwatch functionality. For buyers looking for a stylish wearable with serious health and fitness features, the Huawei Watch 6 and Watch 6 Pro could be among the more interesting smartwatch launches of the year.
