Huawei MateBook Fold 2026 Tipped to Debut Soon With 18-Inch Foldable Screen, Stylus Support, and New ARM Power

Huawei MateBook Fold 2026 is set to arrive soon with a faster Kirin X90 Plus chip and an 18-inch foldable display

Huawei is preparing to refresh its foldable laptop lineup with the upcoming MateBook Fold 2026, and early details suggest a meaningful performance upgrade while keeping the sleek design and flexible screen experience that made the previous model stand out.

One of the biggest changes expected in the new Huawei MateBook Fold Ultimate Design is the move from the HiSilicon Kirin X90 to the new Kirin X90 Plus processor. Huawei has confirmed that the upgraded chip should deliver around 25 percent better performance, which could make the foldable notebook feel faster and more responsive for productivity, multitasking, creative work, and everyday use.

The display is expected to remain one of the main attractions. The 2026 MateBook Fold is said to continue using an LTPO AMOLED panel with a sharp 3,296 x 2,472 pixel resolution. The screen reportedly offers an average brightness of 700 nits and can reach up to 1,600 nits peak HDR brightness, making it suitable for vivid media playback, bright visuals, and a premium viewing experience.

As with the previous version, the foldable design gives users more than one way to work. When opened fully, the device functions like a large 18-inch screen, offering plenty of space for documents, web browsing, video editing, presentations, and entertainment. When folded halfway, users can place a physical keyboard on the lower section, turning the upper part into a 13-inch display that feels closer to a traditional laptop setup.

The Huawei MateBook Fold 2026 is also designed for portability. Despite its large foldable display, the device weighs around 1.16 kilograms, making it lightweight for its category. When folded, it is roughly comparable in size to a conventional 13-inch laptop, which should make it easier to carry in a bag and use on the go.

For users who prefer to travel lighter, the separate keyboard may not always be necessary. The lower half of the foldable display can transform into a touchscreen keyboard with a built-in trackpad, allowing the device to operate as a complete laptop without extra accessories. This flexibility could appeal to professionals, students, and frequent travelers who want a larger workspace without carrying a heavier machine.

Huawei is expected to reveal the remaining specifications and features of the MateBook Fold 2026 by August 5. More details about memory options, storage configurations, battery life, software features, pricing, and availability should become clear at launch.

With a foldable 18-inch AMOLED display, a lighter laptop-style design, and the upgraded Kirin X90 Plus processor, the Huawei MateBook Fold 2026 could become one of the most interesting foldable laptops of the year.
