HP has started selling its new HyperX Omen 15, a compact 15-inch gaming laptop aimed at players who want high-end performance without stepping up to a larger 16-inch machine. First introduced at CES 2026, the laptop is now appearing in North America with modern Intel and AMD processor options, Nvidia RTX 50-series graphics, and premium display choices designed for fast-paced gaming.
The new HP HyperX Omen 15 comes in an Iridescent Black finish and uses a 15.3-inch display with a taller 16:10 aspect ratio. That extra vertical space should make the laptop feel more comfortable for gaming, streaming, browsing, and creative work compared with traditional 16:9 panels.
One of the main highlights is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU with 8 GB of video memory. This graphics option positions the Omen 15 as a powerful gaming notebook for modern titles, high-refresh-rate gameplay, and GPU-accelerated tasks such as video editing or 3D workloads.
HP is offering the laptop with both Intel and AMD hardware. Current processor options include the Intel Core Ultra 7 356H and AMD Ryzen 7 8745HX, while a higher-end Intel Core Ultra 9 386H version is also expected. The Ryzen 7 8745HX uses Zen 4 cores, while the Intel Core Ultra 7 356H features a newer hybrid architecture with performance and efficiency cores.
For display choices, the standard configuration includes a 15.3-inch IPS panel with a 2.5K 1600p resolution, 500 nits peak brightness, and a fast 180 Hz refresh rate. This should appeal to competitive gamers who prioritize smooth motion and responsive gameplay.
HP also plans to offer a sharper OLED option with a 2.8K 1800p resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The OLED model is rated for 500 nits SDR brightness and up to 1,100 nits peak brightness in HDR, making it the more attractive choice for users who want deeper blacks, richer contrast, and stronger visual impact for games and media.
Battery capacity is listed at 70 Wh, which is fairly typical for a performance-focused gaming laptop in this class. While gaming on battery will still drain power quickly, the capacity should help support everyday use when the laptop is not under heavy load.

Orders for the Intel Core Ultra 7 356H and AMD Ryzen 7 8745HX models are expected to begin shipping on July 3. HP expects availability for Core Ultra 9 386H variants between May 27 and June 1.
With its compact 15-inch design, RTX 5070 graphics, 16:10 display, and choice of high-refresh IPS or premium OLED panels, the HP HyperX Omen 15 looks like a strong option for gamers who want a powerful but slightly more portable alternative to larger gaming laptops.
