HP has introduced a refreshed 16-inch OmniBook 5, bringing stronger Intel processor options, OLED displays across the lineup, and a high-end screen upgrade that reaches an impressive 1,100 nits peak HDR brightness.
The new HP OmniBook 5 16-inch is available with Intel’s latest Core Ultra chips, including the Core Ultra 7 355 and the more powerful Core Ultra 9 386H. Both options offer a major performance boost over the previous generation model, making the new laptop better suited for demanding everyday workloads, multitasking, productivity apps, streaming, and light creative tasks.
HP gives the Core Ultra 9 386H model a clear advantage by pairing it with 32 GB of RAM. The Core Ultra 7 355 versions, meanwhile, are limited to 16 GB of RAM. Storage options include either 512 GB or 1 TB of PCIe Gen 5 SSD storage, giving buyers fast boot times, quick file transfers, and enough space for documents, media, and apps. All configurations include a 68 Wh battery.
Wireless connectivity also varies depending on the configuration. HP offers two Realtek wireless options: one with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, and another with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. The Wi-Fi 7 option should appeal to users who want faster wireless speeds and better future-proofing, especially when paired with compatible routers.
One of the biggest highlights of the new OmniBook 5 16-inch is its OLED display selection. Every model ships with an OLED panel, starting with a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution screen rated at 300 nits peak brightness and a 60 Hz refresh rate. The standard version does not include touch support, but HP offers a touchscreen version of the same panel for an additional $70.
For users who want a sharper and smoother display, HP also offers a premium OLED upgrade. This option increases the resolution to 2,880 x 1,880 pixels and adds a 120 Hz variable refresh rate. It also delivers 500 nits peak brightness in SDR and up to 1,100 nits peak brightness in HDR, making it the most attractive choice for watching HDR content, editing visuals, or simply enjoying a brighter and more vibrant screen.
Pricing starts at $1,599 for a customizable HP OmniBook 5 16-inch model with a Core Ultra 7 355 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and a 512 GB SSD. However, HP also offers a pre-configured version with the same core specifications for $1,399, making it the better-value option for buyers who do not need customization.
At the top end, a fully upgraded configuration purchased directly from HP can reach $2,489. With its OLED-only display lineup, optional 120 Hz high-brightness HDR panel, modern Intel processors, PCIe Gen 5 storage, and Wi-Fi 7 availability, the new HP OmniBook 5 16-inch is positioned as a premium productivity laptop for users who want a large display without giving up modern performance and visual quality.
