Honor Unveils Budget-Friendly Powerhouse: 6.8-Inch Display Meets a Massive 7,000mAh Battery

Honor has officially introduced the Honor Play 80 Pro in China, aiming squarely at buyers who want a big screen, a huge battery, and solid everyday performance without paying flagship prices.

The new Honor Play 80 Pro features a 6.8-inch LCD display designed for comfortable viewing and scrolling. It offers a 1610 x 720 resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, and reaches up to 850 nits of peak brightness, which should help with visibility in brighter environments. Despite the large screen and battery, the phone stays fairly manageable at 8.24mm thick and around 207 grams in weight.

Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset, paired with 256GB of storage across all configurations and up to 12GB of RAM depending on the model you choose. One thing to note for users who like extra space: there’s no microSD card slot, so storage can’t be expanded.

Out of the box, the Honor Play 80 Pro runs MagicOS 9 based on Android 15, giving it a modern software foundation right from launch. For photography, Honor keeps things simple with a 50MP main rear camera for everyday shots and a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls.

One of the biggest highlights is the massive 7,000mAh battery, a capacity that’s likely to appeal to heavy users, travelers, and anyone tired of reaching for a charger early in the day. The phone is also rated IP65, meaning it offers protection against dust and can handle typical water splashes.

Honor Play 80 Pro price in China starts at CNY 1,899 (about $275) for the 6GB RAM + 256GB storage version. The 8GB + 256GB model costs CNY 2,099 (about $304), while the 12GB + 256GB variant is priced at CNY 2,299 (about $333). Color options include Sky Blue, Moon Shadow, and Dark Night.

As of now, the Honor Play 80 Pro is only available in China, and Honor hasn’t announced any plans for a wider international release yet.
