HONOR may launch a phone with a 10,000mAh battery

HONOR Explores New Horizons with a Smartphone Boasting a Colossal 10,000mAh Battery, Yet May Skip Flagship Processor

The arrival of enhanced 3nm smartphone chipsets holds promise for improved efficiency and better battery life. However, this progress seems slow compared to the rapid adoption of silicon-carbon technology by Chinese companies. Devices using these advanced batteries can boast significantly longer ‘screen-on’ times without compromising on their slim profiles. Rumors even suggest that HONOR is experimenting with a smartphone packing a massive 10,000mAh battery, potentially surpassing many Android tablets.

Initially, silicon-carbon battery technology made it common to see smartphone capacities from 6,000mAh to 6,500mAh. This upward trend continued with some manufacturers pushing up to 7,000mAh and beyond. According to Digital Chat Station on Weibo, HONOR is now testing the limits with a potential 10,000mAh battery in development.

However, before excitement takes over, it’s worth noting that this device is expected to be a mid-range offering, powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500. This chipset, produced on TSMC’s 4nm N4P process, features eight Cortex-A725 cores and a Mali-G720 GPU, indicating a focus on balanced performance. The device is currently in the ‘New Product Introduction’ phase, meaning it’s still in the concept stage and far from release.

While this ambitious battery capacity is intriguing, it’s not certain that HONOR will proceed with the rumored specifications. The choice of the Dimensity 8500 chipset over a flagship model suggests potential compromises, such as increased thickness, fewer cameras, and a lower-tier display to keep costs manageable. Despite the advantages of silicon-carbon technology, it does still come with some physical limitations related to battery size.

These innovations, however, encourage companies like HONOR to explore creative solutions for extending battery life—a common challenge in the smartphone industry. Addressing this concern is a priority for HONOR as they aim to deliver noticeable improvements to future devices.
