HMD has introduced a new student-focused version of its 105 4G feature phone, designed for parents and schools that want children to stay connected without the distractions of a typical mobile device. Called the HMD 105 4G School Edition, the phone keeps essential communication features such as calling and text messaging, while removing several entertainment and internet-based functions.
The biggest change is the absence of a web browser. While launching a 4G phone without browser access may sound unusual, the idea is clear: provide reliable calling support on modern mobile networks without giving students open internet access. The School Edition also removes preloaded games, including the classic Snake, as well as the voice recorder.
To give parents more control, HMD has added PIN-protected settings that can disable Bluetooth, MMS, and FM radio. The goal is to offer a simple mobile experience that reduces distractions while still allowing students to stay reachable throughout the day.
