The Hisense C2 is a standout entry-level model in its series, sharing technological similarities with the brighter C2 Ultra. Both models boast a cutting-edge three-laser light system that promises to cover 100% of the BT.2020 color space, ensuring vibrant and accurate color reproduction. Although the C2’s brightness is measured at 2,000 ANSI lumens, which is respectable for laser projectors, it may fall short compared to some conventional projectors which offer higher brightness levels. It features a contrast ratio of 1,700:1, which contributes to its impressive image quality.
A key difference between the C2 and the C2 Ultra is the lack of a zoom lens in the former, which means the projection ratio is fixed at 1.2:1. Despite this, the C2 can project a sizable image ranging from 65 to 300 inches. For user convenience, focus adjustment is motorized and keystone correction is automatic, aligning with the expectations of its price bracket. The 4K resolution is achieved through pixel shifting, a technology that quickly adjusts pixels to create a higher resolution image. This known technology does have a trade-off, where the resolution and refresh rate balance out to an impressive 120 Hz at 2K resolution.
For connectivity, the C2 includes two HDMI inputs with one supporting ALLM, making it suitable for console connections. Additionally, it offers two USB 3.0 ports, Ethernet, and a headphone jack for versatile options. Sound is managed by an inbuilt JBL system with a 20-watt output, providing a decent audio experience to match its visual capabilities.
Running on VIDAA U7.6, the projector supports wireless transmission of content from streaming services via WiFi. Exciting features like 3D support and AirPlay capability are set to be added through an upcoming update. Priced at a competitive 1,999 euros (around US$2206), the C2 presents itself as a more affordable alternative to the C2 Ultra which offers superior 3,000 ANSI lumens brightness.
Overall, the Hisense C2 plays in the big leagues of home entertainment projectors, balancing quality, affordability, and advanced features, making it an enticing option for those looking to transform their viewing experience.
