GTA 6 Collector’s Edition Rumors Grow as Fans Question Physical Pre-Orders
Rumors about a possible GTA 6 Collector’s Edition are gaining momentum, especially as some fans express disappointment over the current physical pre-order options for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
A known gaming insider, HeisenbergFX4, recently added weight to claims that Rockstar Games may still have a special edition planned for Grand Theft Auto 6. According to the rumor, this potential Collector’s Edition could include physical extras such as clothing, possibly even a hoodie. For a franchise as culturally influential as GTA, that kind of premium bundle would make sense, especially for longtime fans who want more than just a standard game box.
Rockstar has often leaned into fictional versions of real-world brands across the Grand Theft Auto series, especially in GTA Online. However, some players have been asking for more authentic merchandise tied directly to GTA 6. A Collector’s Edition featuring wearable items, artwork, maps, collectibles, or other themed memorabilia could be a major draw.
Before GTA 6 pre-orders began, many fans and industry watchers expected more than two editions of the game. So far, only limited options have appeared, and the absence of a higher-tier physical package has raised questions. A third edition has not been officially announced, leaving players wondering whether Rockstar is holding something back for a later reveal.
The biggest debate centers on whether a true physical version of GTA 6 will actually include a disc. Concerns grew after Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the state of physical media during an August 7 earnings call. He noted that roughly 90% of Take-Two’s business is now digital and suggested that discs “don’t really make sense for the consumer” in today’s market.
That comment frustrated collectors and players who still prefer owning physical games. Many had hoped Take-Two would strongly support disc-based releases for one of the biggest entertainment launches of the decade. Instead, the remarks added more uncertainty around what GTA 6 physical editions will actually offer.
Zelnick did leave the door open for occasional physical releases, comparing them to vinyl records. That suggests physical editions may continue to exist, but more as premium or collector-focused products rather than the standard way most players buy games. Earlier, he also suggested that GTA 6 would have a strong physical presence at launch, though some fans argue that a code-in-box edition does not meet that expectation.
If Rockstar does release a limited GTA 6 Collector’s Edition, there is still no guarantee it will include a Blu-ray disc. Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar approach with a premium collector’s box filled with extras, but in many cases it did not include the actual game disc. That history has made fans cautious about assuming GTA 6 will be different.
For now, the rumored GTA 6 Collector’s Edition remains unconfirmed. Still, the idea of a special package with exclusive merchandise, physical collectibles, and GTA-themed apparel is enough to keep speculation alive. With Grand Theft Auto 6 expected to be one of the biggest game launches in history, Rockstar may still have surprises planned for collectors before release day.
