Grand Seiko Unveils Limited-Edition Spring Drive Timepiece in a Luxurious Gold Case

Grand Seiko has officially unveiled the Evolution 9 Spring Drive U.F.A. SLGB006, a new limited edition luxury watch that debuted at Watches and Wonders 2026. Designed around the brand’s poetic theme “Ice Forest at Dawn,” this release pairs precious materials with a dial meant to recreate the glow of early morning light reflecting off frozen trees.

The SLGB006 is crafted in an 18k yellow gold case and matched with a black crocodile leather strap. Grand Seiko continues the gold theme on the dial as well, using yellow-gold-tone hands and indexes against a deep black background. What makes the face especially distinctive is its textured finish, sprinkled with subtle gold-toned specks that shimmer as they catch the light. The effect is intended to echo a “sun pillar,” the vertical beam-like glow that can appear when sunlight reflects through ice crystals at dawn. Protecting the dial is a box-shaped sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating applied to the inner surface for improved legibility.

Inside, this limited edition watch runs on the Spring Drive U.F.A. Caliber 9RB2. Grand Seiko states that it can remain accurate to within 20 seconds per month, reinforcing the brand’s reputation for high-end precision in a mechanical-forward format. The display keeps things clean and functional with three central hands and a date window, while the power reserve indicator is positioned on the back of the watch. Grand Seiko estimates a 72-hour power reserve.

Beyond aesthetics and precision, the SLGB006 is built for real-world wear. It offers magnetic resistance rated at 4,800 A/m and is water resistant to 10 bar (100 meters). The strap is secured with a three-fold clasp featuring a push-button release, aligning with the watch’s premium positioning.

The Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Spring Drive U.F.A. SLGB006 is scheduled for release in June 2026. In the US, it will be sold through the brand’s online store for $43,600, while pricing in EU countries is set at €44,700. Only 80 pieces will be produced worldwide, and each watch will feature an engraved serial number on the case back, underlining its rarity for collectors and Grand Seiko enthusiasts.
