Google has announced a significant expansion of its AI Overviews feature in Google Search, bringing the tool to over 100 countries and territories. Originally introduced in the United States back in May, this innovative feature is now available to more than a billion users worldwide each month.
This expansion includes support for multiple languages, allowing users who speak English, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish to access AI Overviews seamlessly.
As part of its continuous effort to enhance user experience, Google has been rolling out updates to make AI Overviews more effective. A notable improvement includes the introduction of in-line links within the text, which has shown increased website traffic by directly engaging users with relevant sources.
Beyond user engagement, Google is also strategically utilizing AI Overviews to bolster its advertising operations. The company has started incorporating ads within AI Overviews for mobile users in the United States, targeting queries that align with user interests.
Despite facing challenges at launch, where the feature occasionally provided misleading or incorrect information — humorously suggesting to put glue on pizza — Google has been diligently working on refining its AI Overviews. This dedication extends to their Shopping page, where a similar feature is being integrated to enhance the user shopping experience.
As Google continues to refine and expand this tool, AI Overviews promise to transform the way users interact with search results, making information more accessible and actionable across the globe.
