GlobalWafers Lands $200M Boost from US CHIPS Act Despite Previous Trump-Era Scrutiny

GlobalWafers, a subsidiary of Taiwan’s Sino-American Silicon Products (SAS), has secured over $200 million from the US CHIPS and Science Act. This funding, received in June, is part of a larger $406 million grant awarded last December. The grant is intended to boost US silicon wafer production capacity, focusing on projects in Sherman, Texas, and O’Fallon, Missouri. These initiatives aim to strengthen the domestic semiconductor supply chain, addressing crucial shortages in the industry.
