Gigabyte recently made waves by announcing a price increase for several of its NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards in China. This move is a reflection of the growing tension in the global supply chain, which appears to be increasingly affected by international trade uncertainties.
The price hike affects notable models like NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5090D and RTX 4060 series, as well as AMD’s RX 9070 lineup. Though Gigabyte hasn’t officially disclosed the reason for these adjustments, industry insiders suggest it ties back to supply chain disruptions exacerbated by recent trade policies.
Breaking down the increases, the NVIDIA RTX 5090D (WindForce & EAGLE variant) has seen a surge from 16,499 RMB to 16,999 RMB, while the NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti rose from 2,999 RMB to 3,049 RMB. AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 also saw price jumps, moving from 4,999 RMB to 5,199 RMB and from 4,499 RMB to 4,699 RMB respectively.
These changes represent a modest increase of around 3%-4%, as calculated based on regional Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP). It’s noteworthy that these price tweaks might reflect market dynamics rather than direct effects of new tariffs, as the increases are relatively minor for such a reason.
In a somewhat reassuring development amidst this uncertain climate, recent updates confirmed that PC components and smartphones are currently exempt from the latest reciprocal tariffs. This is welcome news for the IT consumer industry, which remains on guard against the volatile twists of geopolitical tensions.
For now, Gigabyte’s price adjustments are limited to the Chinese market, leaving global buyers waiting to see if similar changes will be implemented elsewhere. As the international trade landscape continues to shift, tech enthusiasts will be keenly observing how these developments unfold in the near future.
